Our Belief

As fellow sisters and followers of Christ, we believe:

1. We believe that there is only one God who is infinitely perfect, the Creator, Preserver, and Governor of all things, and who is the only proper object of religious worship.

2. We believe that there are three persons in the Godhead - the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit - undivided in essence and co-equal in power and glory.

3. We believe that we are sinners, and that apart from God, we cannot be made whole and are headed for a life of destruction and consequently, eternal separation from Him.

4. We believe that in order to reconcile us back to Him, God had his son take on the form of a human and that Jesus Christ, is the Son of God and He was the One whom the prophets prophesied of in the Old Testament to atone for our sins. He lived a perfect and blameless life and thus was the sinless and ultimate sacrifice for us that by His suffering and death, made an atonement for the whole world so that whosoever will may be saved.

5. We believe that God is always striving to have our relationship with Him made right, and that when we recognize ourselves as a sinner, and repent to the Father, we can receive forgiveness from Him and our sins He counts no longer.

6. We believe that when we dedicate our lives to Jesus, we pray to receive the Holy Spirit, our Advocate on earth, and that He, Spirit of God then dwells within us.

7. We believe that we are justified by grace and not by works --that it is through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ that we are saved and that continuance in a state of salvation depends upon continued obedient faith in Christ.

8. We believe, as prophesied, that Jesus Christ will one day return to this earth.

9. We believe in the immortality of the soul; in the resurrection of the body; in the general judgment at the end of the world; in the eternal happiness of the righteous; and in the endless punishment of the wicked.

10. We believe that the Bible is Holy -- it is inspired by God, written by humans and is God's word revealed to us so we can understand more about Him and should constitute the rule of Christian faith and practice.

Above all else, we believe with utmost sincerity that we are to love the Lord our God with all our heart, mind, soul and strength and that this is the greatest commandment. Secondly, we are to love our neighbour as ourselves.

Inspired and based on William Booth's Doctrines Of The Salvation Army (1890).
